Set amongst 17 hectares of pristine parklands, HOTA, Home of the Arts is a tropical gem to entertain the young and the young at heart. You can easily see the new HOTA Gallery on your drive into the precinct – bright, colourful and fun – this is your welcome for the day to come.
Check out our tips for a top day at the HOTA precinct.
Go for a swim in the lake
Take a dip in the pristine HOTA lake while taking in the Surfers Paradise skyline. It’s perfect for kids, offering a safe calm-water enclosure with plenty of sandy beach to play. It’s the perfect place for little ones to cool off after playing on the nearby gated playground.
Walk, scooter or bike-ride around the parklands
Wander the scenic pathways surrounding the lake, outdoor stage and HOTA Gallery. Or up the ante with the 677-metre running loop, complete with free outdoor exercise equipment. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for curious and mesmerising sculptures as you weave around the lush tropical gardens of Evandale Park.
Climb the hidden adventure trail
Have you spied the sandstone steps hidden behind the outdoor stage? Trust us, it’s one stairway you will want to climb. Once at the top, you’ll be able to take in the amazing view of the HOTA precinct, along with the winding waterways of the Nerang River and the Surfers Paradise skyline shining bright.
Take a stroll over the HOTA Green Bridge to Chevron Island
The HOTA Green Bridge artfully connects the Cultural Precinct to the funky retail and restaurant hub of Chevron Island. Stroll the local boutiques, stop for coffee or head over for a delicious dinner pre or post show. The 130-metre pedestrian and cycle bridge also offers an Instagram-worthy photo opportunity with sparkling skyline views over the Nerang River.
HOTA Farmer’s Markets
Mmmmm, we smell coffee! Start your day with a fresh brew and a croissant while listening to live music by local musicians. Held every Sunday in the carpark of HOTA, the popular Farmers Markets cater for the clean eaters right through to those wanting to eat pizza for breakfast – hey, no judgement here!
Sightsee the waterways aboard the HOPO
Jump aboard the HOPO, the Gold Coast’s ferry service. The HOPO terminal is located next to the Green Bridge, offering ferry rides from HOTA to Surfers Paradise (Appel Park), Marina Mirage, Broadwater Parklands and Seaworld with ferries leaving every hour. With so much to see and a fully licenced bar, the HOPO is a great adventure for any age.
