Colourful fruits and flowers, steaming spicy curries, crunchy fried vegies and delicately flavoured desserts are some of the foods to love in the Gold Coast’s delicious vegan culture.

Local vegan food artists make it easy and fun to eat healthily by preparing great food free from animal products.

Whether you’re looking to eat out, enjoy ready-made meals at home, grab and go, or enjoy cakes and fine cheeses, local providores can satisfy your desire for plant-based culinary adventure.

Vegan Megan makes organic gluten-free ready-to-eat meals and cakes, and caters for small groups. Dishes include: I Am Whole — spring vegie lasagne, I Am Comforted — cheesy cauliflower, pumpkin and spinach potato bake and I Am Colourful — Spanish mushroom and eggplant cacciatore.

Taste Da World chef Karina Cornejo takes customers to a different part of the world with her menu every month. November is a Mediterranean adventure. Cornejo cooks meals from fresh ingredients, without processed foods or mock meats. Prior dishes on the menu include Baby Eggplant Sambar and Bindi Palya.

Garden of Vegan delivers meals made with 100% vegan organic certified products. Their meals are gluten, oil and processed sugar free. Plates include their Mexican Burrito Bowl, Creamy Pumpkin & Herb Pasta and Black Forest Chia Pudding.

Tian Ran means nature. This Asian food is free from meat, dairy, alcohol, garlic, onions and MSG. Many of their dishes are vegan and some use wheat, soy, yam, mushrooms and seaweed to create meat substitutes. My favourites include Crispy Vegan Fish and Broccoli, Cauliflower, Mushrooms and Bamboo.

Easy House — Yum Cha is fun with delicious dumplings, spring rolls and other dishes like Pumpkin and Pine Nut Rice and Steamed Buns. Easy House makes for a lovely weekend family lunch.

Other venues include Izakaya Midori, Blossoming Lotus, Plant Based Eatz, Giri Kana Cafe, I Like Ramen, Kuan Yin Tea House, Blue Morpho Vegan, Plants and Me, and Flour of Life Bakery.
