Round up of the Gold Coast's best local surfboards

Kate Webster | October 21, 2021

Surfing and the Gold Coast pretty much go hand in hand.

A mecca for board riders, the 57-kilometre-long strip of pristine coastline offers waves for every level of surfer, from small rolling waves to the world-famous breaks along the Superbank.

Every year, the world’s eyes are on the waves at Snapper Rocks as the WSL’s best surfers drop in for the Corona Open Gold Coast. It is no wonder the Gold Coast has produced a stellar lineup of surfing champions, from Phyllis O’Donnell, Michael Peterson, Rabbit Bartholomew, and Peter Townend in the ‘60s and ‘70s, to Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson and Stephanie Gilmore in the 2000s.

With the selection of surf sports to froth over, also comes a variety of local board makers to get you decked out and ready to hit the waves. You’ll find retro surfboards, hybrid models, high-performance boards, vintage logs, and big wave surfing machines. Here is a guide to where you can grab your next board so you can ride the best Gold Coast surf breaks.
