Get a little green on the Gold Coast this St Patrick’s Day

We’re all a bit Irish this week. Green is the colour of the day this St Patrick’s Day, Thursday 17 March, when Gold Coasters galore can break out the Guinness, tuck into a pie and get their best Riverdance on at their favourite Gold Coast venue.

And this year there are more places than ever to chase the craic. Here’s our list of Irish-themed Gold Coast celebrations that would make St Pat himself proud.

D’Arcy Arms Irish Pub

2923 Gold Coast Highway, Surfers Paradise
This beloved Irish local is playing up to be sure, with a St Patrick’s festival taking over on Thursday and the weekend. Catch Claddagh, The Carolan Academy Irish dancers and GC Pipe Band on St Pat’s Day, a Trad Station and Irish dancing on Saturday and The Gathering on Sunday with traditional food served outside.

Dublin Docks Tavern

Harbourtown Shopping Centre, Biggera Waters
Dublin Docks will light up with St Patrick’s Day cheer on Thursday with live Irish bands, Irish dancing, a golden choccie giveaway (courtesy of some local leprechauns), the classic green beer, Irish food specials and a best-dressed comp, so be sure to break out the wigs and leprechaun hats!

Harrigan’s Irish Pub

Harrigans Lane, Jacobs Well
Harrigan’s Lane is extending the craic with Irish celebrations running from 13 to 17 March, including a range of tasty and classic Irish food, as well as live music by the Limerick band. Thursday, the tunes will be supplied by Tartan Shamrock and Sarah Calderwood, with plenty of room to get your clogs on and get dancing.

Circle on Cavill, Surfers Paradise
If you follow the end of the rainbows, you’re bound to wind up at Finn McCool’s Surfers Paradise where the Irish spirit will be going strong on St. Patrick’s Day from Thursday 17 to Sunday 20 March. Irish bands The Gathering, Limerick, Tartan Shamrock, TradStation, QIPB and more will provides plenty of entertain and entry is free.

Enjoy Irish sounds and flavours as Southport Sharks celebrates St. Patrick’s Day from Thursday to Saturday. They’ve lined up a weekend of great entertainment with The Munsterbucks on Friday 18 March and U2 the Show on Saturday 19 March. From Thursday 17 to Saturday 19 March you can munch down on a $13 Beef & Guinness pie in Frenzy’s. Nom nom.
