Kobi Facto | April 23, 2021

On the contrary to popular belief, the Gold Coast is not all coastal bars and cocktails.

Venture off the beaten track to discover quaint teahouses, vintage high tea parlours, provincial gardens and a good dollop of old-world charm.

268 Tallebudgera Creek Rd, Tallebudgera Valley

Inspired by the romance and traditions of provincial France, Teavine House offers a whimsical sojourn into High Tea society. Whet your appetite with a wander through the idyllic gardens before arriving at your quaint table set with a lace tablecloth, fine china and silverware. Indulge in a tantalising selection of exquisite sweet treats, petite savoury delights, and dainty ribbon sandwiches, all freshly made in-house and served on beautiful vintage tiered trays. Raise your pinkies – Teavine House is very oh là là.

7 Johns Road, Mudgeeraba

Bon AppéTea can be found within a colonial homestead in the lush surrounds of the Gold Coast’s lower hinterland region of Mudgeeraba. Owned by siblings and long-time Gold Coast residents, Bianca and Adam, Bon appéTea (formerly known as Tea Topia Tea Salon) is the perfect day escape. The quaint café and tea house is eclectic in style with many cosy nooks to enjoy high tea or a quiet cuppa. Bianca is also the chef at Bon appéTea and brings with her over 10 years of experience and a passion for food and service. The Traditional French Inspired High Tea menu is a must. There are also options for a Breakfast High Tea, Gluten Free and Vegan High Tea and Kidlets High Tea.

388 Tamborine Oxenford Road, Upper Coomera

If you’re looking for a high tea with a side of old-school charm, then you might like to try Pickers & Co. Located in an early 1900s Cobb & Co. homestead, Picker’s & Co is the perfect place to kick-start your day before venturing further into the Gold Coast’s hinterland. The rustic venue melds corrugated iron and timber floors with an eclectic mix of provincial décor and sparkling chandeliers. Book ahead to secure your high tea of classic scones, mini cakes, sausage rolls and finger sandwiches. You can even bring your fury friend to this pooch friendly parlour.
