10 ways to show Dad - and the Gold Coast - that you care

Craig Tansley | August 26, 2021

Celebrate Father’s Day – and support local business at the same time. We show you 9 ways how…

1. Pretty him up

Get your dad looking younger for Father’s Day. Order him a renewal serum or hemp jelly for his skin after a day at the beach from Cannabella, a company founded by three Gold Coast brothers. Your dad doesn’t have to be a pretty boy, though he might become one.

2. Cocktail time

Everyone loves a good cocktail, right? They just don’t like paying $20 for them. So order your dad cocktail mixes made by a company in Burleigh. Everything’s made by hand, so he can sipping cocktails within 30 seconds. Order him Margarita or Sours mixes, then just add tequila and whiskey.

3. Go golfing

Take your dad golfing on Sunday. The Gold Coast has over 35 courses – more per capita than any other region in Australia! And they’re all within an hour’s drive of each other. Or book him a TopGolf (where you hit balls at a target) Father’s Day package which includes two hours of golf, and food and booze.

4. Ultimate gift packs

Stuck for a gift idea? Order a Father’s Day Gift Box from The Damn Good Store in Burleigh which sources products from across the local area. How about the Damn Good Dad Beer Box with local Lost Palms beer, sauces from a local smokehouse and local chocolate?

5. Brewery tour

Take dad on a free brewery tour of one of the Gold Coast’s best independent breweries, Precinct Brewery, in Miami. You’ll get a free tour, then dad gets a free beer. Stick around for a gourmet pizza and join the local crew for a Sunday session.

Even if dad’s not a regular golfer, he’ll love a hit at TopGolf – and a burger and a beer

Why not give dad a free brewery tour this Father’s Day at local fave, Precinct Brewery

Make dad look younger with products from Cannabella.

6. Out you go

Shout dad lunch or dinner. Cucina Vivo at Star Casino are offering a three-course Italian share dinner menu with a complimentary schooner for dad for $75, or how about a three-course brunch with live music at Currumbin Sanctuary for $45 or an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet with a complimentary beer for dad for $49.90 at Southport Sharks.

7. Do it yourself

You don’t have to take dad out – impress him with a little assistance from QT Gold Coast. You’ll get to put in the flavours their restaurant, Bazaar, offer up with all the steps for preparing your feast included. You’ll get a 1.2 kilo Tomahawk steak, chili garlic prawns, pork and fennel sausages and more.

8. Show him some classic old cars

Take dad out to see the best old cars in Queensland at the Carrara Markets Classic Car Show this Father’s Day. You’ll get to see the best cars ever made – and it’s all for free, between 8am and 3pm. There’s also live rock’n’roll – ah, this will be nostalgia at its best.

9. An axe to grind

Take dad out for a Father’s Day experience he’ll remember forever. Book a session of indoor axe throwing at Lumberpunks in Miami Beach where he can take out any frustrations in an hour-and-a-half session of good ole fashioned axe throwing. Then head across to Lost Palms Brewery for a beer to celebrate.

10. Hit the waterway

Take dad out on the Gold Coast Broadwater for a 90 minute Father’s Day Beer Tasting Cruise. Cruise past the fancy homes of the waterway and out towards the Gold Coast Seaway as you sample local craft beers from Balter, Black Hops and Burleigh Brewing Company listening to live music and waiting for your sausages to BBQ.
