Art is alive and thriving on the Gold Coast.

Whether it’s contemporary or classic art you’re into, there’s plenty to discover right here on the Gold Coast. We have a range of local galleries that cater to all styles and tastes right here in our own backyard, with many boasting more than wall-to-wall artworks. Here’s a snapshot of some of the Gold Coast’s best art galleries.

19 Karen Contemporary Art Space, Mermaid Beach

Gold Coast’s largest contemporary art gallery, 19 Karen is a stylish refurbished warehouse in the heart of Mermaid Beach’s industrial precinct. The gallery exclusively showcases the work of almost 100 Australian and international emerging artists, spanning genres such as surrealism, pop art, abstract, urban and street art, and expressionism. An art collector’s mecca, the gallery also has a substantial stockroom as well as a dedicated area displaying the private collection of gallery director Terri Lew. Entry is free and dogs (as well as humans) are welcome. As it’s a busy area, parking can be a challenge, but Pacific Square just behind the gallery has two-hour parking.
