The Gold Coast - the world’s top 100 greatest places of 2021
Kobi Facto | July 26, 2021
Confirming what locals have known for years, New York’s iconic TIME Magazine has just named the Gold Coast as one of the World Greatest Places of 2021.
As one of just two Australian cities to make the cut (Sydney was also named for their ‘harbourside stunners’), the Gold Coast is listed alongside the likes of Berlin, Cannes, Singapore, Taipei, Denver, Helsinki, Madrid and more.
TIME journalist Melissa Fagan said “think perennially warm water, some of the world’s best surf and a reputation for glitz and glamour”.
Further solidifying our place in the acclaimed top 100 was the new $60.5 million HOTA Gallery, the luxurious Gwinganna health retreat co-owned by Hugh Jackman (also voted World’s Best Eco Spa at the World Spa Awards last year) and the retro upcycled Mysa Motel at Palm Beach, which is leading the way in sustainable and re-imagined hospitality experiences.
Local council, tourism and media heavyweights have celebrated the news this weeks, agreeing that the accolade cements the Gold Coast as the ideal place to live, work, study, invest and visit.
