Trade and export assistance
With a global focus driving our city forward, the Gold Coast reaches out every day to connect with the world.
The City’s Trade Missions Program plays a vital role in bringing local products and innovations to a global market.
Working with our business community, the City has led trade missions to Dubai, Singapore, Amsterdam and London with the aim of enhancing the profile of our leading innovators and their products.
The missions promote the capabilities, products and services of the city’s export-ready businesses and assist local firms to generate export sales.
This proactive global program draws on the depth of international relations established by the City and the business community over many decades.
The Gold Coast’s international profile is enhanced by the many sister-city arrangements we have around the world.
We have established 11 sister-city relationships which are now in place with Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, Fort Lauderdale in the United States, Taipei, the Taiwan capital, Netanya in Israel, Takasu in Japan and three Chinese cities including Chengdu.
Partnerships have also been forged with Wuhan and Jining in China, Danang in Vietnam and Makassar in Indonesia through letters of intent for friendly relations, agreements of friendship and co-operation or an intent to establish a sister-city relationship.
The benefits of these partnerships are recognised globally for stimulating economic growth, increasing tourism and assisting in establishing reliable business contacts to deliver long-term benefits to the local community and partners abroad.
Since the beginning of international tourism in our city more than 60 years ago, the Gold Coast has developed a network of global connections that continue to drive our prosperity today.
